Zico is presented as Flamengo´s executive director

June 1st was always a very special day for Zico that used to sign his contracts as football player in this date. In 2010, the day became even more special. In an event that took place in Flamengo´s noble hall, Zico was officially announced as the club´s new executive director until 2012 December. His salary will be paid by the club´s sponsors. The president Patrícia Amorim was very touched in the presentation.

- It´s a great honor to present the football´s greatest idol of the history of the club Arthur Antunes Coimbra, our Zico, as the football´s executive director. It´s a historical moment, unique and we are certain that now Flamengo is writing a very important chapter of its history to rescue definitely the union indispensable and necessary to return to live up to its tradition. Zico represents this intention to take Flamengo to the place where it could not leave - said Patrícia.

Right after that, Zico gave a quick and firm speech, confident and conciliatory:

- If I acted with my heart, I would never leave Flamengo. However, I followed my way to work. I traveled through the world. I knew many ways to work inside and outside the field. When I came back to Brazil, the only place to work would be Flamengo. I have already faced Brazilian national team and it was hard. It would be even harder to face Flamengo - said Zico.

Zico´s work will actually begin after the World Cup, but, from June 14th, he will get involved more directly with the club.
